This is my last newsletter article in Edinburgh!
As I look back on my time here, I cherish the friendships and bonds I made,
the fun times with the youth, and the services I was able to put together.
This year has helped me to grow in faith and patience, and I have learned a
great deal about myself and the church community. I look forward to taking
what I’ve learned to aid my studies and ministry in the future.
My time here is not yet over! The youth and I
are looking forward to planning and participating in a Youth Sunday on the
8th of June, where the theme will be “welcome” and focus on Jesus's
welcoming of the outcasts in society and what that means for Christians. It
will be filled with skits, songs, and a message of hope for the church! On
that same note, we will be reading a book by Shane Claiborne of
Tennessee/Pennsylvania called The
Irresistible Revolution. I hope this can be a summer read for the
kids and we are going to discuss it while I’m here, and continue an online
discussion when I leave. This book is about a new way of looking at
Christianity in the view of the outcasts and the poor and creating a
revolution throughout the world with the message. I’m hoping this book will
evoke the same inspiration in the kids as it did for me and maybe they can
inspire you as well! I’m excited about the prospects!
The next place I’m going is Richmond,
Virginia where I will attend Union Seminary and Presbyterian School of
Christian Education. I’m planning to be there for four years to get a
Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Christian Education. I start Hebrew
school two weeks after I get home from Edinburgh! Union has a wonderful
community of students and professors, and I’m looking forward to my next
four years there. You are all welcome to visit me sometime, and I can show
you around Richmond or Washington DC! Thank you all for your support and
help! I will miss you all! May God’s Grace and Peace be with you all.
