The start of a new term is always an
exiting time … new people … new opportunities … new challenges.
We enjoyed two musical events during
May and June of this year with an organ recital given by Andrew Bryden
(Ripon Cathedral) and the American Choir from Spartanburg Presbyterian
Church giving us a recital of sacred and secular music. Both these
events were well supported and thanks are due to Eileen McDougal, Winifred
Thomson, Valerie Walke and Fiona McGillivray for arranging refreshments at
these events.
The Praise Group
rehearse on Thursday evenings 8pm-9pm so if you enjoy singing,
why not give it a try! We also meet on Sunday mornings at 9.15am for a
short rehearsal before the “Worship Now” service.
I hope that you have managed to get a
copy of the Praise group’s CD entitled “Come now is the time to worship”
priced £3. Copies and details from Kenneth Barlee who produced the CD
(contact via Church Office).
Composer and conductor John Rutter was
due to lead a “Come and Sing” event for charity at Fairmilehead in
November but has had to postpone because of commitments in the USA at that
time. Another date is being identified early in 2009.
